As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 427 people, 140 households, and 105 families residing in the city. The population density was 777.6 people per square mile (299.8/km²). There were 184 housing units at an average density of 335.1 per square mile (129.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.19% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.47% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.94% of the population.
There were 140 households out of which 48.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.0% were non-families. 17.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
